They're scared of you little black girl,
When you walk the streets with your back pack on your back, When you hold your head high in your well ironed shirt and your skirt swishing around your knees.
They feel intimidated by you but you don't even know it.
You try to compare yourself to them little black girl, you try to be what you're not, when indeed you're certainly all you'll ever need.
Your beauty and awesomeness robs them of their speech but you don't understand little black girl, that they want to be like you, hell, what they wouldn't give to be you but you're just thinking you're a wannabe.
They envy you, when you put your gloves on and keep fighting, when you protect and defend your dignity and when you give your best for humanity.
You don't know that they're scared of you little black girl cause your blackness is so immaculate and enchanting.
Never think you're not enough little black girl, because your DNA consists of everything that they're not.
Always remember that.

ReplyDeleteWell articulated, Delight.
Indeed, we all need to realize that we're unique in every sense of the word. The colour of our skin is part of our cultural identity which we must take pride in and cherish wholeheartedly.
An African girl child with a glowing skin, a bold and enterprising spirit ready to face life's battle head-on need not compare herself with others.
Whether you're black or white, we are made with infinite potentials. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to understand that our destiny is not defined by the colour of our skin or the circumstances of our birth but in the capacities of our mind.
Glow! Africana. You are made for more.
Expertly stated!
DeleteWe should always appreciate ourselves.
